About Arya Nick Shamie, MD
Doctor Arya Nick Shamie is Chief of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Neurosurgery at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Shamie is board certified and fellowship trained.
Dr. Shamie received his medical degree from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He completed a general surgery internship at Los Angeles County and University of Southern California Medical Centers, and residency in orthopaedic surgery at St. Mary's Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Shamie advanced his training and experience by completing two fellowship programs; Spinal Surgery and Bone Research both at UCLA School of Medicine.
Dr. Shamie is a recipient of the University of California at Irvine's School of Medicine Award for Excellence in Research. In the field of spine surgery, he is involved in basic science and clinical research. His areas of clinical interest include bone protein, multi-trauma, scoliosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and minimally invasive spine surgery to treat many difference spinal problems.
