Gabapentin (Neurontin)
Neurontin is the brand name for gabapentin. This prescription medication is
an anti-convulsant. Neurontin may be prescribed to treat pain from postherpetic
neuralgia (shingles), diabetic neuropathy (nerve damage), and other pain conditions
(e.g. back and leg pain). Gabapentin helps relieve pain by changing the way
pain is perceived.
