Oral griseofulvin ultramicrosize belongs to a class of anti-fungal agents derived from a species of Penicillium. It is used to treat certain fungal infections of the skin, hair and nails, such as athlete's foot and ringworm. The use of griseofulvin is not justified for localized or superficial infections that respond to topical anti-fungal agents alone. It works by interfering with the fungi's ability to reproduce. You should be sure to take the full prescription as outlined by your doctor. Do not miss a dose or discontinue taking your antifungal prescription, even if your symptoms are gone. Antifungals work over a period of time; discontinuing early may cause your infection to reoccur. |
