Biaxin
FDA Approved Uses
- Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, such as bacterial bronchitis, otitis media, acute sinusitis, pharnygitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia and skin and soft tissue infections.
- Used in combination with amoxicillin, lansoprazole, omeprazole or ranitidine bismuth citrate for treatment of H.pylori associated duodenal ulcers.
- Used to treat Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infections and prevent disseminated MAC infections in those with advanced HIV infection.
Contraindications
Any of the following may be reason to choose a different drug.
Inform your doctor before starting therapy.
- Allergic to clarithromycin or any other macrolide antibiotic
- Severe kidney dysfunction
