About Our Practice
Ed Nash graduated Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with degrees in both Biology and History. He then earned his medical degree from University of Texas at Houston Medical School. He went on to complete both internship and residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine / University of Texas Medical School Alliance.
Dr. Nash is a physiatrist, a doctor who treats medical conditions that can cause pain or limit function. Physiatrists see patients of all ages experiencing a wide range of problems – from sore shoulders to muscle weakness – that may make it difficult to function at home, in the workplace or during recreational activities. Dr. Nash will use techniques ranging from detailed medical histories and examination to specialized nerve conduction studies to diagnose a multitude of medical conditions. When evaluating patients, he considers the impact of their condition on the whole person – not only medically but emotionally and vocationally. “I enjoy helping the patient focus and understand in order to take control of their health”. Dr. Nash listens to his patients and works with them to develop a customized course of treatment. This may include one or several non-surgical treatments, such as medications, therapeutic exercise, injections, assistive devices such as braces, heat and cold therapy, massage and directed physical or occupational therapy.
Finally, Dr. Nash strongly believes in patient education and involvement with their care, including preventative medicine and for post-injury recovery. Sometimes surgery is necessary, and Dr. Nash will work with patients and their surgeons beforehand, and coordinate their care afterward. Dr. Nash believes patients can achieve a successful recovery by working with other physicians, such as neurologists and orthopedic surgeons and other health professionals including physical and occupational therapists. “I am convinced that a team approach ensures the best outcome for the patient”.
Dr. Nash is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Association of Academic Physiatrists, Texas Medical Association and the Harris County Medical Society. Dr. Nash is a native Houstonian and graduated from Klein High School. He and his wife live in Houston. Dr. Nash enjoys swimming, surfing, hiking, and time with family and friends.
