About Our Practice
As an interventional pain management specialist, my goal is to improve overall function and reduce pain by treating the source of pain. My emphasis is on spine related pain. Specific pain syndromes such as complex regional pain syndrome, post herpetic neuralgia, and phantom pain after amputation are also part of my practice.
Cancer pain management is a special interest of mine. Studies have shown 20% of cancer patients require interventional tequniques to alleviate pain and suffering. Indications for interventional managment include metastasis, intolerable side effects of pain medications, or high pain medication requirements.
Pain originating from the spine originates from many causes. Disc degeneration, disc bulges or herniation, arthritis, and sciatica are the most common. Others include failed surgery, fusion, and fractures from osteoporosis or cancer.
Interventional treatment includes epidural steroid injections, selective nerve root blocks, facet joint blocks and denervation, sacroiliac joint injections and denervation, diagnostic and neurolytic nerve blocks, diagnostic discography, disc decompression, IDET, spinal cord stimulation (pain pacemaker), pain pump trials and implantation (morphine pump), and vertebroplasty.
"Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional."
