About Our Practice
Dr. Spivak's practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders in adults and adolescents. Specific areas of interest are degenerative diseases of the back and neck including herniated discs and spinal stenosis, adult scoliosis and kyphosis, and fractures of the spine. He performs major spinal reconstructive procedures as well as minimally invasive spine surgery including kyphoplasty.
He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors in recognition of his contributions to spinal research and the field of orthopaedic surgery, including the Hibbs Award of the Scoliosis Research Society. He was chosen as a North American Traveling Fellow by the American Orthopaedic Association.
Dr. Spivak is actively involved in a wide range of spine-related research projects, including work as a principal investigator for the Prodisc lumbar and cervical artificial disc replacements. He is the author of numerous book chapters and scientific articles. He is also the main editor of a major orthopaedic review publication of 90 contributors, and he also edited a recent Spinal Disorders text. He is a frequent lecturer locally and nationally regarding spinal disorders and their treatment.
