About Our Practice

Dr. Buchowski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Neurological Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He also serves as the Director of the Center for Spinal Tumors. He treats patients at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Buchowski earned his bachelors of science and masters of science degrees from Yale University and his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he served as administrative chief resident at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was fellowship trained in adult and pediatric spine surgery at Washington University School of Medicine.

Dr. Buchowski's clinical practice is devoted complex spine surgery including treatment of metatastic spine disease and tumors of the spine, spinal deformity surgery (scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, etc.), and revision surgery. Dr. Buchowski also performs surgery for degenerative disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine including minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Buchowski's research interests include: clinical outcomes following spinal reconstructive surgery, spine biomechanics, and basic science applications (such as gene therapy) to disorders of the spine.
