Dr. Mark Harper is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology where he performed breaking research in arthritic diseases. He graduated from prestigious Vanderbilt University School of medicine and completed an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of South Carolina. After residency, Dr. Harper completed specialized surgical training in the University of Virginia Department of Orthopedic and Spinal surgery as a spine surgery fellow. There, he trained under world renowned surgeons and mentors. He trained to treat complex spinal deformities in adults and children and is one of the few spinal surgeons that have specialized deformity training. At the University of Virginia he was exposed to the latest advancements in spinal surgery, including minimally invasive techniques. After fellowship, Dr. Harper continued to provide world class care of the spine and developed devices and techniques to further spinal treatment. Dr. Harper has been a spine surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic and is now in private practice. Currently, Dr. Harper provides total care of spinal disorders and strives to provide conservative care and treatment, reserving surgery to those that really need it.
