About Our Practice
Gary S. Schneiderman, M.D., is the medical director of spine surgery at Sutter Neuroscience Institute and practices at the Sutter Neuroscience Medical Group. Dr. Schneiderman has spent more than 20 years in private practice. Dr. Schneiderman specializes in evaluation and surgical care of the spine. He is admired for his honest and conservative approach to spinal treatment, seeking non-invasive treatments unless surgery is absolutely necessary.
Education and Experience
Dr. Schneiderman earned his medical degree from Loyola University School of Medicine in Maywood, Ill. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at USC, during which he received the Lowman Award for Outstanding Resident Research. He later pursued a Spine Fellowship at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles. He was certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery in 1984.
While on the faculty of UC Davis School of Medicine from 1987-98, Dr. Schneiderman was awarded the Outstanding Clinical Faculty Award. He currently lectures throughout the United States and Europe. He also teaches and directs courses for other spinal physicians regarding minimally invasive spinal surgery. His current research activities are centered on artificial disc replacement in the cervical and lumbar spine.
Dr. Schneiderman is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, Scoliosis Research Society, California Orthopedic Association, and the Spine Arthoplasty Society.
