Dr. Melisi has been in private practice since 1993. He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Melisi graduated magna cum laude in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1981 and received his medical degree from State University of New York, Downstate College of Medicine in 1986. He completed a seven year residency at George Washington University Hospital in 1993. He received his MBA in Medical Services Management, May 2009 from Johns Hopkins University/Carey Business School.
