About Our Practice
Jonathan R. Slotkin, M.D. is a neurosurgeon with advanced training in brain and spinal surgery. Dr. Slotkin completed his residency training in neurosurgery at Harvard Medical School, The Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He completed fellowship training in complex spinal surgery with Dr. Eric J. Woodard. Dr. Slotkin completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania and medical school at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Dr. Slotkin has clinical interests in brain tumor surgery and complex spinal surgery to include degenerative conditions, spinal oncology, spine trauma, surgical back pain, adult deformity, minimally-invasive approaches, and artificial disc replacement technologies. He also has a special interest in sports- related spine and neurological injuries.
Dr. Slotkin is active in research related to spinal cord injury, neural regeneration, and nanotechnology. He has published numerous peer-reviewed publications in these areas and has co-edited a two volume publication on spinal surgery. Dr. Slotkin was the 2005 recipient of the Apfelbaum Award for basic science research from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is a member of the scientific advisory board of InVivo Therapeutics Corporation.
Dr. Slotkin is a member of numerous professional organizations including AO Spine North America, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Slotkin is licensed in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia. He and his family reside in suburban Maryland.
