About Our Practice
Dr. Jeffrey Kachmann is a Fort Wayne native and a graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School, where he played No. 1 singles for the tennis team. He attended Ball State University—a family tradition—where he achieved various academic honors, including Phi Beta Kappa and Golden Key, and majored in biochemistry. Indiana Medical School, Indianapolis, served as his foundation for his surgical internship at the renowned Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He completed his neurosurgical residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and the University of Kansas Medical Center, in Kansas City, where he focused on complex spine and spinal trauma as well as intracranial procedures. He was featured on “20-20” with Barbara Walters there. Dr. Kachmann completed a neurological surgery fellowship at New York University Medical Center in New York City, working with world-renowned neurosurgeons who developed international techniques and protocols for spinal and brainstem tumors, spinal cord injury, spinal fusion and fixation techniques, brain tumors and brain trauma management.
Dr. Kachmann is a board-certified neurosurgeon practicing in Fort Wayne since 1996 and specializing in complex spine disorders and instrumentation, pituitary tumors, craniofacial, and intracranial and spinal tumors. He has chaired and presented at national spinal technique training meetings and is a co-investigator for a Medtronic/ FDA investigational national artificial cervical disc study. He has also served on a national committee and think tank for Stryker Corp. for spinal instrumentation development and improvement. He serves on several Fort Wayne-area committees and boards and is an avid supporter of numerous Fort Wayne community projects, including the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, the Philharmonic, the Embassy Foundation and the Wawasee Area Conservation Foundation, among others. Dr. Kachmann is a supporter of several state and national foundations as well. He is an active member of the Congress of Neurosurgery, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, National Association of Spine Specialists, American Spine Society, ISMA and the Fort Wayne Medical Society.
