About Our Practice

Dr. Amir Vokshoor is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders. He uses a multi-disciplinary approach to treat spinal problems using minimally invasive methods. He is currently one of the active directors of the innovative Spinal Surgery Program at D.I.S.C. and Saint Johns Health Center in Santa Monica, CA.

The staff is available to arrange all immediate and urgent consultations in any of three convenient locations Marina del Rey, Beverly Hills, and West Hills; The focus of the treatment plan concentrates on returning the patient to the optimal functional level as soon as possible. A non surgical approach is emphasized initially and the patient is followed until an optimal outcome is achieved. Surgery is performed using the least invasive methods allowing quick recovery and return to full function.

Dr. Vokshoor earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia of the Virginia Commonwealth University where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his neurosurgery residency training at the Ohio State University and obtained additional complex spine Fellowship training at the University of South Florida. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

Having served as the Chief of Neurosurgery at the Woodland Hills Medical Center, Dr. Vokshoor began his practice with the Kaiser Permanente health system. He was also the Assistant Chief of Neurosurgery at the Los Angeles Medical Center which is where he gained additional experience with tumor removal and deformity correction. Dr Vokshoor served as a North American Board Member of the International Spine Research Society (ARGOS) via collaboration with founding colleagues in Europe and is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North America Spine Society, and the California Association of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Vokshoor’s expertise lies in the treatment of the entire range of adult spinal disorders from disc degeneration to complex reconstructions for tumors. He continues to advance the field of spinal surgery through numerous contributions to peer-reviewed journals including the surgical treatment algorithms for cervical spondylotic myelopathy, spinal stenosis, and lumbar degenerative disease. He has particular interest in dynamic stabilization of the spine through motion preservation, which is considered the next frontier in spinal surgery.Angeles.
