About Our Practice
Dr. Jafari specializes in neurology, electromyography (EMG), and neuromuscular diseases. After graduating from medical school with honors at the top of her class, she dedicated her time to performing cutting-age clinical research in world-class centers. Ranked among the top 3% of all medical school graduates in the US, and with an outstanding set of academic and research achievements, she received offers from some of the most prestigious academic centers to complete her residency (specialty) training. She concluded her internship in Internal Medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Englewood Hospital, and her keen interest in marvels of nervous system and the exquisite works of human brain and her passion to serve patients led Dr. Jafari to complete her Neurology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at North Shore/LIJ Medical Center, where she consistently ranked among the top Neurology residents in the nation. She also served as the Chief-resident during the last year of her residency. She subsequently went to UCLA and completed her EMG and Neuromuscular fellowship training at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. She has rotated through and served in numerous prominent hospitals and medical centers including Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (NJ), North Shore Hospital (NY), Long Island Jewish Medical Center (NY), Montefiore Medical Center (NY), and Olive View Medical Center (CA), and has received training and mentorship from some of the legendary masters of neurology during her years of training.
Medicine is said to be an art as much as a science. Dr. Jafari’s interest in Medicine was fueled by her artistic talent as a painter as well as her astute intellectual capabilities from a very young age. As a medical student, she spear-headed several scientific research projects alongside with campaigns to outreach to and educate communities on diseases such as breast cancer. By the time she graduated, Dr. Jafari had authored a number of peer-reviewed scientific papers, and had scored a handful of international presentations and awards.
Dr. Jafari’s passion for Neurology is rooted much deeper than the curiosity to know more about oneself. She is motivated by a strong conviction to serve her patients and provide them with the best (not just better) care for the best quality of life. It is indeed an exciting time to be a Neurologist, as newer and more effective treatments for every type of neurological disorders (from migraine headaches and neuropathies to multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease) are arriving every day. The field is so rapidly-evolving that anything learned a year ago can be outdated, and constant connection with the most up-to-date scientific literature is warranted. Dr. Jafari is particularly privileged in this aspect since she has been trained in the leading neurological centers in the world to which she maintains constant ties, and she meticulously keeps herself updated with the most recent scientific advancements.
As a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Jafari is highly experienced in a host of neurological disorders including headaches, pain, dementia, movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, ALS, muscle diseases, myopathy, polyneuropathy, stroke, neurotrauma, spine diseases, myasthenic syndromes, neuropsychiatry, and neuro-oncology. She has additional subspecialty training in EMG and neuromuscular disease. Dr. Jafari is certified in muscle biopsy, with an exceptionally high level of skills rivaled by very few Neurologists in southern California. Among her many specialized skills, she feels quite at home in both the world of Sports Medicine and Worker’s Compensation cases.
Dr. Jafari is committed to providing the absolute best care for her patients and to do so, she draws on her years of clinical experience, up-to-date medical knowledge, scientific reasoning, and a compassionate demeanor toward her patients. She believes that her patient’s well-being and comfort always comes first and she employs the latest advancements in Neurology to achieve this.
