Gross Disruption at the craniocervical junction
Gross disruption at the craniocervical junction. Specimen radiograms had only shown a slight atlanto–axial asymmetry. There is a subluxation and anterior rotation of the atlas and the anterior atlanto–occipital membrane, the apical and cruciate ligament, the rectorial membrane are ruptured. Note the avulsion of the ligamentum flavum from the lamina of C2. In this specimen there also were several uncovertebral and disc lesions, transverse process fractures and facet joint– and ligamentum flavum ruptures.
