Diclofenac Sodium with Misoprostol  [Oral]

Dosage and Administration

Dosages may require modification to adjust for individual sensitivities and associated medical conditions.

Adults Under 60
For osteoarthritis:
Arthrotec 50:
1 tablet taken by mouth 2 or 3 times per day, depending on the tolerance of the patient. The 3 times per day dosage will provide the maximum ulcer protection.
Arthrotec 75: 1 tablet taken by mouth twice per day.

For rheumatoid arthritis:
Arthrotec 50:
1 tablet taken by mouth 2 to 4 times per day, depending on the tolerance of the patient. The 4 times per day dosage will provide the maximum ulcer protection.
Arthrotec 75: 1 tablet taken by mouth twice per day.
To minimize the potential risk for an adverse event, use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration of treatment.

Note: Take with food to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Avoid taking with aspirin unless instructed to do so by your physician or alcoholic beverages.

Adults 60 and Over
Reduced dosage may be necessary. Consult your physician.

Maximum Dosage Recommendations
Diclofenac:
For rheumatoid arthritis: 225 mg per day.
For osteoarthritis: 150 mg per day.
Misoprostol: Do not exceed 800 mcg per day and no more than 250 mcg per dose.


Storage

Keep all medications out of the reach of children

Store in a tightly closed container at room temperature in a dry, dark place. Do not store in the bathroom. Moisture can cause the drug to break down.
