Abnormal Postural Balance and Gait in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis – Correlation with Somatosensory Cortical Evoked Potentials
Information provided by

Poster from the SRS 2002 Annual Meeting
Postural balance (PB) & gait pattern (GP) were tested in 18
AIS girls (normal posterior tibial nerve somatosensory cortical evoked potentials
PTN-SCEPs, N=10; abnormal PTN-SCEPs,
N=8) and 8 control girls, with mean age at 14.5-y, by using two
forced-platforms and 3-D motion analysis system respectively.
All AIS girls had significantly poorer stability control (p<0.05).
Furthermore, AIS with abnormal PTN-SCEPs had additional asymmetric
kinetic GP (P<0.05).
