About Our Practice:
Dr. Schechter's practice is non-surgical and multidisciplinary in nature. He brings expertise from his Sports Medicine CAQ and Pain Management credential (AAPM) as well as his broad perspective from Family Medicine. He works closely with chiropractic, physical therapy, and psychologists. Dr. Schechter makes an assessment and treats the mechanical, inflammatory, and psychological aspects of the condition. He reviews or performs appropriate imaging, examines the patient, understands their personality and lifestyle and creates a unique treatment plan. This may include anti-inflammatory medication, muscle relaxors, neuropathic medications, nerve testing, MRI, chiropractic treatment, physical therapy, trigger point injections, and home exercise. Where appropriate, referrals for epidural injections or micro-surgery is provided.
www. mindbodymedicine.com describes his interest in Tension Myositis Syndrome or Distraction Pain Syndrome, a pain amplification condition where the psyche needs more treatment than the back. www.smi-mindbodyresearch.org describes his research on this condition and its treatment.
