About Our Practice:
Dr. Alan Appley is a graduate of Tulane University Medical School where he was elected to the AOA Medical Honor Society. His internship and residency were completed at the Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center. He moved to Lafayette from Orlando, FL in July 2001. Prior to coming Lafayette, he was Assistant Professor of Neurological Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia (1989-1991). In Orlando (1991-2001), he was instrumental in developing a computer-assisted, minimally-invasive surgery program. At Florida Hospital, Dr. Appley served as Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery and Medical Director of the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit. He was the founding Medical Director of the Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute and served as the Medical Director of Neurosurgery for the Gamma Knife Center from 1996-2000.Currently, Dr. Appley is Surgical Director of the CyberKnife Center -Louisiana at LGMC. Some of Dr. Appley's professional affiliations include membership in the AANS, CNS, North American Spine Society, CyberKnife Socitey, International Stereotactic Radiosurgery Society, Joint Sections on Tumors, Stereotactic Surgery and Pain, and the American and World Societies for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. He was certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 1992 and, in October of 1995, was inducted as a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons.
