After receiving his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Payman completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the UCLA School of Medicine. He then went on to pursue a spine fellowship at the University Hospitals of Cleveland, under the direction of Henry H. Bohlman, MD.

Dr. Payman provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for all types of spinal disorders affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. These include spinal stenosis, disc herniations, disc degeneration, arthritis, complex deformity, spine trauma, neck pain, and back pain.

Dr. Payman performs spinal surgery using standard techniques and newly developed surgical technologies. These include minimally invasive spine surgery, disc replacement, and microsurgical decompression. For certain spinal problems, these new techniques may allow faster recovery and eliminate the need for spinal fusion.

He has authored several papers in the Orthopaedic Surgery literature and has presented his research at the annual meetings of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, and the Scoliosis Research Society.
