He received his spinal surgery training at the Spine and Scoliosis Services of the Hospital for Special Surgery, Weil Medical College, Cornell University, New York, New York. Dr Diwan is the recipient of the National Orthopaedic Surgery Fellows Foundation Award (1999), Philip D Wilson Award (2000), and the Merril Lynch Innovations Award (2001).
