Dr. Kim is full-time faculty at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center (UCSD) and is the director of the UCSD Spine Fellowship Program. He is fellowship trained and board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Kim specializes in computer-assisted minimally invasive spine surgery using image guidance and navigation technologies. He is the founder of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery. All aspects of the spine, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, are treated. In addition to the treatment of degenerative conditions, such as disk herniations and spinal stenosis, he has special interest in spinal tumors, spinal infections, and osteoporotic spine fractures. Dr. Kim received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and fellowship training in spine surgery at the Mayo Clinic.
