Scoliosis Prevention and Relief
Although scoliosis cannot be prevented, screening for the disease is important to help ensure early treatment. Scoliosis rarely causes pain, so it can be difficult to detect. Some parents notice physical signs of scoliosis during the summer months when children wear swimsuits.
Here are some signs to look for:
- One shoulder blade may appear prominent
- Uneven waist
- One hip is higher than the other
- Clothing does not fit properly—uneven hemline or one pant leg is longer than the other
- Body appears to lean to one side
If you notice any of the signs, contact your doctor for an accurate diagnosis.
