Oral cephalexin belongs to a class of antibiotics called first generation cephalosporins. It is used to treat susceptible bacterial infections, including ear infections, certain skin infections and urinary tract infections. It kills susceptible bacteria by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis. As with all antibiotics, finish the entire course of medicine as directed by your doctor. Try not to miss any doses and do not discontinue therapy even if you feel better. |
