You may experience the following side effects with the use of
this drug:
Common
Symptoms
- Drowsiness
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dizziness
Less Common to Rare Symptoms
- High or low blood pressure
- Difficulty breathing
- Heart palpitations
- Sweatiness
- Headache
- Constipation
- Halluncination, disorientation, agitation
- Skin rash or itch
- Flushing
Life-threatening Symptoms
- Fast or pounding heartbeat
- Trouble breathing
Possible Overdose Symptoms
- Breathing difficulty
- Heartbeat irregularities
- Coma
What to Do in Case of Overdose
The IM and IV routes will probably
be administered by a physician experienced in the use of butorphanol
in an inpatient setting. If it is in an outpatient setting for
the IM route, dial 911 for emergency help.
