Injectable butorphanol tartrate belong to a class of pain relievers called narcotic agonists. It is used to provide relief from moderate to severe postoperative pain, a preoperative or preanesthetic agent or for prepartum pain. Butorphanol tartrate has both agonist and antagonist activity; it should not be used in those addicted to narcotics as it may induce withdrawal symptoms. Because of its potential for abuse, this controlled substance should be used with caution. |
