The Basics

Green tea comes from the leaves of this large shrub-like plant. Green tea contains bioflavonoids, caffeine, fluoride, polyphenols, tannins, and vitamin C. Polyphenols are primarily responsible for the therapeutic action of green tea. It has antioxidant and antibacterial properties.

This tea is taken to help prevent cancer, lower cholesterol, improve circulation (keeps blood platelets from sticking together), regulate blood sugar, improve digestion, control diarrhea, increase mental acuity, and neutralize poisons. Its antibacterial properties make it useful in fighting infection (i.e. colds, sore throats).

Green tea is available in the following forms: dried tea leaf, liquid extracts, and capsules. For maximum benefits, purchase standardized products.
