I have a friend who went to Dr. Greenfield at NY presbyterian for a benign spinal tumor and spoke very highly of him... Maybe if you asked the community about neurosurgeons that accept HIP than people could give you some feedback.... I think Dr. Hartl at Cornell would be a good choice as well... I think they actually accept your insurance.
Good luck!
Than you for your suggestions. I will look into it today.

Francine:
I read your post. I live in Houston, TX, so I can't be a lot of help to you as far as finding a doctor.
Is the Mysoid tumor benign or malignant? I had an astrocytoma in the T-10-T12 area of my spine and I was living in CA at the time. What kind of pain are you having?
I wish you good luck in finding a doctor. I would start with a teaching hospital -- does NYU have a hospital? I read that if you have a serious problem, a teaching hospital is always best because they know all of the new techniques.
