It has been 2 yrs and 8 mos.that a had lumbar spinal stenosis surgery.Today still hve pain in my back especially on my right side looks like is swelling a little.I get massages from my husband 2xaday feel good the swelling goes down some but the swelling a pain comes back.It has been about 4 weeks now.Why is this happening?thought that after surgery I should hVe been ok.What causes this? This started when I pick up walking 1 and 1/2 miles a day every day it felt good but next day it started to hurt some, could that be because I was walking on a concrete,or maybe the sneakers are not given me support?

Where did you have the surgery? Have you been back to get an MRI to see other ailments. I would now check and see where is the best possible spinal institute to go to and have a consultation. Even if it means flying to a city or country. That pain is not worth living through every day.

Very possible. It's been 10 yrs for me and I know Not to sit down hard on something .. Sometimes the least little thing.. like pounding on the spine if your walking to fast or hard will cause inflammation. That could be the cause of the swelling. Try walking a little slower. It seems like the back takes forever to heal and you think they fixed everything but it takes time to heal. Mine is still sensitive to picking up anything over10 lbs. I pay for it the next day.
