prolotherapy

Started by fauxred on 02/16/2010 1:56pm

HI EVERYONE, I AM NEW TO THE WEB SITE AND THANK GOD I FOUND YOU!! I'LL TRY TO GIVE YOU A BRIEF HISTORY...IN JANUARY OF 06 I FELL ON ICE, AND TWO WEEKS LATER I WENT NUMB FROM MY WAIST TO MY FOOT ON THE LEFT SIDE. MY STORY IS THE USUAL...YEARS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY, INJECTIONS, PAIN MANAGEMENT, ETC. IN OCTOBER OF 08 I ROLLED OVER IN BED AND THE PAIN REALLY BEGAN. I ENDED UP WITH SURGERY IN APRIL OF 09, FUSION AT L4-L5 AND LAMINECTOMY AT L5 S1, DUE TO SPONDELOTHESIS, OR SLIPPED DISC. I STILL HAVE SUBSTANTIAL PAIN, MOSTLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY SACRUM. MY LEFT SIDE IS SEMI NUMB STILL. I CAN LIVE WITH THAT, BUT THE PAIN ON THE RIGHT IS TAKING ME DOWN. NOTHING, AND I MEAN NOTHING HELPS. SOMETIMES I WONDER IF I'M TRYING SO HARD WITH THE PT THAT ITS MAKING ME WORSE. I SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON THE INTERNET TRYING TO FIND ANSWERS, AND I SAW SOME WEB SITES ABOUT PROLOTHERAPY. HAS ANYONE TRIED IT??? OH, SIX WEEKS AGO I FELL AND BROKE MY LEFT ARM AND SPRAINED MY RIGHT ANKLE. MY BACK GOT SO MUCH WORSE AFTER THAT, BUT MY DOC WON'T DO AN MRI. HE SAYS THE XRAYS SHOW THAT ALL THE SCREWS ETC ARE IN PLACE AND I SHOULD WAIT. I HAVEN'T TRIED CHIROPRACTIC SINCE BEFORE THE SURGERY...IT DIDN'T HELP THEN AND I WONDER IF IT MIGHT HELP NOW????? I'M SOOO TIRED OF IT ALL. ANY ADVISE YOU ALL CAN GIVE ME WOULD BE WONDERFUL. THANKS SO MUCH!!!

Hi fauxred...nice to meet you.

Your problems make mine seem minor by comparison. God bless you.

About the prolotherapy. Some swear by it, and some swear at it. I tried it 3 times. The last treatment put me in the hospital for 10 days with a severe hemotoma (internal bleeding) from my hips down my left leg. MAN that was painful! I had 2 transfusions too. Anyway, no more of that for me.

That would not have happened (probably) if I had not been taking warfarin (blood thinners). I stopped taking the warfarin 3 days before the prolo, but it must not have been enough time.

Another time I had a prolo session gave me a suicidal headache. I wanted to die!

There are a bunch of techniques to chose from. Some doctors give you an IV to put you under while doing the injections. Others, don't. (Mine did!) They also have their own magic mixtures to inject. (Mine used a dextrose solution.) I have read about some that use pumus (volcanic foam).

Best wishes in finding relief.

Chuck
