Learning from Others real experience!

I am more of an observer, I myself have suffered for a long time. I guess basically I want start to communicate with those who understand, I have become accustomed to living in silent pain... With exception of flare ups for the world to see .... Looking for a venue to learn , hopefully improve and maybe help others with my experience.

I have had lower back pain since 1994. I used to work out everyday, and one night during stretches I felt something rip on my lower back on my right side. The next day there was pain, and it began to increase to the point that I could not get out of bed. It was horrible! I toughed it out then, and I did recover, slowly, but the back injury remained.
Now, I'm older, and my back has become very touchy about what I do. I live in constant pain, but some days are better than others. I see a chiropractor twice a week and also get a massage, but it's expensive. I have two friends that have recommended cortisone shots, but I'm not too sure about that, yet.
I've thought about this and realize that I'll be in pain the rest of my life, and that it will never get better, but it can get worst. So, I'm pretty sure I will continue to see my chiropractor to try to keep this from getting worst.
It's not the most pleasant thing to have to come to terms with, but there is it. I don't like pain medication since most of it makes me feel sick, or I will sleep a day away!
