Scared to ride in car

Started by Strhuntrss on 04/23/2015 8:31pm

Hello everyone,

I'm 55 years old, I have a degenerative spine cervical through lumbar. I've had a laminectomy with fusion on L4-L5. My C5-C6 is grade 1 spondylolisthesis with other herniated cervical vertebrae.

I am afraid to ride in the car. Especially on interstates. I drive my husband crazy. He thinks I don't trust his driving. It's not him I'm worried about, it's the other drivers. Here in the country we have a lot of coal and log trucks that barrel down the road faster than the speed limit.

I'm afraid someone will hit us and my neck will get the brunt of it. My orthopedic said if I have another whiplash. It could paralyze me.

Does anyone else have a fear? How do I control my feeling of panic when I go riding in the car. The fear of being in an accident. Sometimes, it's overwhelming.
