No more pain killers, injections or physical theraphy. I need a real solution!!!

Started by Yani77 on 09/05/2010 12:30pm

I have pain on my neck with tension headaches that comes a goes. I can feel great one day and next day I'm in so much pain that I can't put my head or neck on the pillow. In order to be pain free I must have a very sedentary life. As soon I star working out or i have a busy day the pain comes back. I'm a very active person who likes to go to the gym and exercise. During the past few months I have change completly my lifestyle in order to avoid pain. I had an a head and cervical MRI on 2009 that shows C5-C6 with a small buge and ropture of annular tear. The doctors said It wasn't big enough to cause pain but, they send me to physical therapy, epidural injections oral medication such a Prednisone, muscle relaxers and pain killers. Everything looks like is working until I tried to go back to my normal routine. Of Course trying to be more careful. Since the problem persisted the doctor sent another test called a discogram or discography. The discograpy shows the same information about C5-C6 but also shows that C6-C7 is abnormal it demostrate full ticknes of annular tear. The dye leaks from that center along a radial tear. I had NO pain during the procedure. The doctors said that even when the discs were abnormal they are not the cause of my pain. I know there is something wrong. I just want to know what is the cause of this horrible pain episodes. I will like to know if taking Prednisone 5 days before a discogram and Flexeril plus naproxen 2 days before can alter the final results of the test. Please help me to undestand what is happening to me. I don't want to be on pain killers or more medication.

Hi, I have the same symptoms as you, and also have osteoarthritis in both hips, knees and spine. Im 47yrs old and like you am very active, loved to go to the gym, run and play tennis. But am now unable to do anything as im constantly tired, have no energy and will have to give up work soon. Like you I hate tablets and take 8 Cocodamols a day. I am now trying organic cyder vinegar in warm water with honey. Also Ive a very good book called Treating Arthritis by Margaret Hills, Its a drug free way to cure the pain and recomend you read it. I also take root ginger grated in warm water with honey and celey as they are anti-inflamitry. stay away from Lemons and tomato as i find these foods make the condition worse. also eat plenty of Almonds as you need lots of vitamin E And vit C in tablet form. I hope this advice will help you and good luck in the future... Christine.

I know what your going through. The doctors have no answer because they really can't see everything
that is going on in your neck. I have had problems with my neck most of my life. An Osteopath hooked me up with neck traction system that decompresses the disks in my neck, and for 15 to 20 minutes every evening I used it for years. I started using a very light weight and moved up to about 15 pounds.
It worked for me and now I seldom need it. I think the exercises I do to strengthen my neck muscles have also helped a lot. Please ask your doctor if a traction system might help. They are inexpensive and can be purchased at any medical supply store. Remember the muscles in your body, especially
your core muscles support your spine. Weak core muscles weak spine. Please check out my website
at backrepair.net. I developed the site to help others the way it has helped me. I offer my plan for free
to anyone who cannot afford it. Take care of your neck and talk to your doctor about medications specifically for nerve pain.

I truly understand what you are going through. I've been in pain for almost ten years and seen several doctors. They really donn't listen but are ready to shove a prescription in your face. One doctor didn't even bother to look over my reports before issuing a prescription. After all these repeat performances, you feel that your providers just don't care about anything but money that you obviously don't have since you are calling off from work because you are in so much pain. I am currently participating in my employers wellness program. They refer me to a chiropractor who administer adjustments. He ordered an MRI and found that I have bulging discs on both sides, L4 on one side and L5 on the other, a bulging disc in my neck which answers my question about migrains, chest and shoulder pain associated with swelling, spondlyolisthesis and a fractured vertebrae! I took a leave of absence and applied for STD only to find that they, the insurance company does not recognize chiropractors as certified, valid doctors because the are not MD's! That translates into no payments until I see a "real" doctor or back specialist! It's all about money not about wellness! I am in pain, frustrated, stressed and depressed. I feel no one wants to listen. I am not taking muscle relaxers neither am I having surgery. I have taken ibuprophen until my stomach is irritated. You can't take naproxen on a continual basis and acetaminaphen just doesn't work! If anyone in the medical field has real and honest answers, WE NEED THEM!
