Started by 100000410937740... on 07/02/2012 4:54pm

I had L5,S1 spinal fusion last Nov.,since then I have had tremendous pain that starts at the crack of my butt and travels downward. It feels like my back is broke in half. This is post surgery pain. I cannot sit or sleep on my back. Doc.ordered another CT and MRI.......has anyone had this kind of post op pain before?

I had spinal fusion at L4/L5 and L5/S1. ALIF and PLIF with rods in the back and lt cages in the front.
I also had medtronics BMP 2 bone morponogentic protien in the cages. The morning after the surgery I stood up to get my body brace put on and my wife started to cry, we didn't notice until after surgery that I was taller than her again for the fisrt time in a long time. For the first six months I pushed thru the pain(out of the hospital in two days and back to work full time in three weeks) but
at the six month mark had a series of heart attacks and started to go down hill from there. I have been on Percocet 5/325 for pain. My pain feels like the rods are goingto break thru my skin in my but crack. When I take a shower I feel a lot of pain and it is like a sensory overload if I let the water splash on it too hard. I get more relief from sitting on ice packs than anything else. I also have
a lot of leg, hip and knee pain that goes into my feet and ankles. I am now back to walking with
a cane. I lost my job and my benefits, so i cant get any new tests done right now or have the
hardware removed (surgeon wants to do that next and then install a spinal cord stimulator) so
i am stuck where i am at. Last but not least, the last few months I have the feeling that I have a
terrible sunburn on my legs and feet. If the fan hits them it drives me nuts, so it can be 80 in the
house and i have a blanket on and no pants or shorts (can't stand anything touching my back.
