DEAR WILLIE, EVERYONE HAS TO HAVE INSURANCE IN THE US. CALL THE NEAREST SSI OFFICE OR CLOSEST HOSPITAL TO YOU. THEY HAVE TO SET UP SOMETHING FOR YOU, AND YOUR MEDICINE IF NOT FREE WILL BE A DOLLAR OR TWO. DO THIS ASAP, THERE IS HELP.

BEST OF LUCK.

I have been going thru the same thing...for a long time. I was in an accident on the job in 2001. I had L5-S1 fusion with hardware and cage in 2007. Long story short...I am in horrible pain every day. Nerve pain in right leg...loss of feeling and control of right leg...lower back and hip pain. I pay out of pocket for medications and I do not have insurance either. I also don't sleep much. The stress of how I'm supposed to pay for everything and of trying not to let everyone see how very scared I am and how much pain I'm in is insane! I sleep about 2-3 hours at a time - and thats if I take a prescription sleep pill. I hate more than anything having to think about who the next person is that I have to ask for money. I have a journal that no one else knows about that has every dollar I have borrowed from anyone since my accident...I pay back everything I can when I can but its never enough. I wonder if I will ever have enough. I understand...I truly do! I am so sorry you have to go thru this!! If there is anything I can do to help or you just want to talk just let me know. :-)

Here's what I know that might help:
If you need to be seen there are public hospitals that have the ability to write off part or all of your bill. After they see you ask for their billing dept contact info and call them in a couple days when you feel better. Ask for charity care info. There are some larger doctor offices that can do the same thing. (if you tell me what state you are in I might be able to help more)
There are free prescription discount cards online. Get one - they help. Just type 'prescription discount card' into google. Walmart, Walgreens, and other pharmacies have certain medications that they offer REALLY CHEAP...but you have to ask. They don't just offer that up. Call around and ask the local pharmacies about prices for your meds.
My last and best bit of info is to contact the manufacturers off the medications you take (their names are always on your prescription bottles - you will find their info online) - ask them if they have prescription assistance programs. Sometimes they will give you your meds for free...or super cheap (about $5.00-$10.00 each).

I hope all our part of this helps. And if anyone else reads this and could use someone to vent to about pain, doctors, attorneys, meds, whatever...feel free to contact me. It helps to talk to someone who's been there.

** CANDYK - Please don't take this the wrong way but - who told you all of that? I have yet to find any of that to be true... if it is I would love to know who to contact about it so if you could help me out with that it would be awesome!! :-) **
