Grounding Helps Chronic Pain and Sleep
A Clinton Ober published the finding of a study in the January 2000 issue of ESD Journal that suggests that sleeping while grounded makes for a better night sleep, and helps with chronic muscle and joint pain.
For the study, 60 participants, (22 males and 38 females) between the ages of 23 and 74 slept on carbon fiber mattress pads. All participants had problems sleeping, and all had chronic muscle or joint pain. In the study, which lasted 30 days, the participants were divided into two groups of
thirty. The test subjects slept on mattress pads that were grounded to the earth, while the control group slept on mattress pads that were not grounded.
The results of the study show that 85% of the test group noticed an improvement in the time it took to fall asleep, while only 13% of the control group did. 93% of the test group found their quality of sleep
improved, while on 13% of the control group did. 100% of the test group woke up feeling rested, compared to 13% of the control group. 82% of the test group felt an improvement in chronic back and/or joint pain, compared to 0% of the control group. Finally, 78% of the test group reported an
improvement in their general feeling of well-being, while 13% of the control group reported the same.
