Double Disc Replacement Needed/ How do I get my insurance to cover it?

Started by Trooper27 on 02/26/2015 11:50pm

Hello All,

I am new to this page. I am getting pretty desperate. I have suffered with two level DDD for 11 years. My brother in law who is a Neurosurgeon told me to NEVER get a fusion. So, I have waited for 11 years for something better. Now that Pro Disc L is here.. my insurance is denying me because I have two bad discs.

Has anyone been successful in fighting your health insurance for a double Artificial Disc Replacement? I have waited too long to settle for a double fusion.

Thank you all for taking the time to help.

HI You have not mentioned what treatments you have been on for the last 11 years. I think any insurance requires you to show a pattern of PT & meds that you have been on.. Summary of your tests. of the doctors report.

From what I can find, the FDA approved Pro-L disk. Here is a link describing the issue:http://www.fda.gov/MedicalDevices/ProductsandMedicalProcedures/DeviceApprovalsandClearances/Recently-ApprovedDevices/ucm077620.htm

So you might mention a brief history of treatment you experienced. Read the link as that explains the circumstances & requirements.

Hope this helps.
