Flat Back after an L5 S1 fusion

Started by unluckygirl520 on 01/27/2015 6:50pm

Hello everyone,

Last year I had an L5 S1 fusion with a 360 cage to relive pain from a degenerative disc. Due to a demanding job, I am just recently beginning to be able to focus on my recovery. I am currently still having neck and upper back pain. My physiatrist at Rusk in NYC told me that my spine seems very flat after the surgery. I've had some PT with little progress (my muscles spasm out of control easily) so I'm in the process of making a follow up appointment with him as well as other doctors.

I am going to seek professional opinions for conservative treatment options, but I was wondering if anyone else had flat back after a lumbar fusion and if anyone knew if there are any surgical options to correct it. I want to learn as much as I can.

I will begin my round of doctor visits this Friday.
