When i wake up in the moring I am in ALOT of pain..I am 19 days post op...I was wondering..could it be because I am doing too much or maybe not walking enough or is it normal...I had a laminectomy..disectomy and fusion on L3-4...2 rods and 4 screws...mornings are terrible....should i call the doctor or is this normal..?

Hi Lorine,
Is it possible you are not taking pain medication through the night? I am 10 days post op and if I don't take it during the night mornings are horrific..pain meds can't go down until your pain goes down and continues to decrease. Then it will be time to either lower dose or frequency or both

I need to take my own advice again here. I stopped waking myself up during the night or at least 2 hours prior to getting up out of bed. Yesterday I walked with my trusty 3 shelled walker through Target for about 45 mins. I figured that was as good as exercise can get. When I woke up this morning I could barely move I hurt so bad. It took 2 hours after taking pain meds to settle things down so I could think straight. So for the next few weeks I am going to set my alarm to take meds at 5 am and force myself to not move until 7. I can't handle that kind of pain anymore.
