4 level fusion Neck

Started by rossam on 02/02/2012 12:26pm

My Doc called me last nite explaining what he would have to do to fuse
my neck.I have C3-C4 to be fused and Dr Young explained he would have to remove a old fusion bone in my C5C6 disc to be able to tye every thing with 8 screws
2 rods with fusion C6-C7 disc.I can not raise my left shoulder also shooting pain into my mid back and hips and thighs with the Myelopathy coming from my neck. The Pain of it all.
I shall Praise God through all things:
Isaiah 55:

10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

I had the same surgery done in 2003. They have certainly come a long way baby for sure. I had the 5 discs fused all at the same time. I did not have all the symptomatology that you have. Mine was severe pain and spasming in my neck. The surgery went well and recovery time was 2 or 3 months then I went back to work. Three months later I needed L4 & 5 with S1 fusion. I had plating etc done also. I would do it all over again to be rid of that pain. I was working as an RN on a rather busy Oncology floor in a Cancer Institute. My faith helped me tremendously during this time and now is also a great testimony to other people. Make sure you do all of the exercises that the doctor wants you to do in PT and you will get well and recover quickly. My prayers are with you.
