herniated disk - L4 in back

From: mimito8 - on 09/05/2011 10:13am

Have a herniation at L-4 (Ithink). Had constant pain down front of leg, from thigh to ankle.. Could walk only by bending over.
Been 3 weeks now. Had cortisone shot in back week ago, first day after was good. Now, pain is unrelenting from knee down to shin. Pain meds did no good -only eventually knocked me out. Also on oral steroids for 2 weeks. Anyone else had this kind of pain?

yes this is how mine started. Disc herniation at l4-l5 and l5-s1. Did all the shots, and meds that I could and finally could not take it anymore and had a one level fusion l5-s1 March 2011. All of the pain down my legs from my nerves is completely gone but still in PT and coming back slowly. I would recommend a disocgram before surgery to ensure where the pain is coming from. Pain isn't always from the disc.
