Does anybody know if you are experiencing bad nerve pain, do ER's offer EMGs or nerve conduction tests?
thanks a lot DK
I've never been, but I would bet they do. Maybe you can call?
No they don't.their goal is to break the pain cycle and then send you on your way and follow up with your regular doctor. I myself have been treated like crap in certain ER's.The pain in a pinched nerve situation is excruciating
Nerve conduction studies are done by neurologist, I know this because I have had a couple of them done by my neurologist. You need to make an appointment with one in youir area. Good luck.
no they dont..they are not an ERMGENCY tests.
Sorry Cathy, but you either don't understand the question or don't know what you are talking about. DK wanted to go to the emergency room for nerve pain and while they probably won't do much for her nerve pain, they also will not do a nerve conduction study. This is done by a Neurologist which I've already said I know for a fact because I've had them done twice by a Neurologist due to five back surgeries.
I do understand the question. . Only if your admitted to the hospital will they do emg or nerve conduction tests, this happened to me the very first time I was in the pinched nerve pain. That was in the 70s . DUe to the fact I have had lots of them and 12 spinal surgeries with hardware . I think I know what I'm taking about. INsurance companies will not allow these tests unless ordered by a neurologists..I ve had every test they had back then even before MRI'S
The one I cant have is a disco gram due to allergic reactions to lidocaine I can't have epidural steroid shots either.
