DDD Post Laminect Synd-lumbar,Thoracic,Cervical spondylosis, CRPS, Pseudoarthrosis

Started by hpinky on 11/09/2010 8:18pm

I am new to this group. I have an 11 year history of severe lumbar spine pain, Thoracic, left shoulder and neck pain.
I have known C5-6 stenosis, Status post multiple surgeries and interventions including microdiskectomy in 12/98 @ Cedar Sinai, repeat in 10/99, 5/2000 fusion with cadavar, 1/2002 fusion with hardware@ Century City hosp,CA, 9/2002 removal of screw from L5 nerve @ St Likes in Phoenix.

I have received multiple evals, Thoracic epidural steroid injections, CT myelograms, discograms. (Neg)
DDD @ L2-3. Losing bone rapidly

I was told that I needed to have another fusion in the L- Spine based off of an MRI dated June of 2009, I continued to have more issues and by June of 2010 I was told that I have an issue @ T9-10. The L and T spine issues combined I was told by my surgeon that No nuero/ortho would be able to stablize my spine due to the fact that there is an issue @ every level.

Has anyone else heard of issues like mine? I am getting a 3rd opinion with a reconstructive surgeon.
I am wondering if they cannot operate what kind of life am I going to have?? I am in my 30's. I am in a whelchair after a screw was put through my L5 nerve in 1-2002. The screw was removed, but he nerve was perm. damaged which lead to the CRPS in my L foot. I spend 90% of my day in bed, due to pain.
There has to be a way to get my life back, I want to due H2o therapy, but the insurance reuses to pay for it. Making my core very weak. Any Idea's ??

I am really sorry to hear what you are going through. I have 4 fusions in my neck and can feel the disc above and below are going out because of the bad pain in those areas and my back and shoulders hurt really bad. I had a pain pump put in me on 12-23--10 and I am feeling a big difference. I am still on pain meds, nerve meds, depression meds, you name it. anyway the pump is starting to make my pain alot more manageable. They are still in the adjustment stage and they have to bring it up slowly because of the pressure in the spine and brain I guess. You may want to check into a pump. They just did my first refill and also added another medicine with the Morphine. Monday I will have another adjustment and they are adding a muscle relaxer I think to it also. I think once it's fully adjusted I will be able to do alot more. I already feel like I am getting my life back as in I am already able to do more than I have been in 3 yrs. Let us know how you do and if I can answer anything else about the pump or my procedures that helped let me know. Best of luck and I really hope you get some relief.
