more pain after microdiscectomy

From: dollypie - on 11/05/2010 12:21pm

Hi im new here and wondered if anyone else has the same problem im having after L5/S1 microdiscectomy.I had my op in april this year but i am still in terrible pain in my lower back area i also have pins and needles and numb feeling in my leg but bad pain in the sole of my foot this is all left sided.I didnt have any physio up until end of august but now im waiting for an mri because of the pain and symptoms im still getting. While this is painful i have been experienceing another back problem which i can only explain as my spine is snapping in half at the base of my back!!!!An example of this is i stopped to talk to a friend one day this week and after moving to walk away i turned around and my back "just went"it feels like its snapped in two at the base of my spine. The pain is awful and the headache it brings on is awful too and then it takes me awhile to actually move off again. Does anyone know what this could be or experience this themselves, i would be greatful for any advice.

During my precedure they mentioned to me that if they hit my spinal sac that I could be faced with severe headaches. Contact your surgeon and see if anything like that may have happened. They are called spinal headaches.
