Not sure what to do now

Started by seed181 on 10/20/2010 3:26am

I've been having lower back pain on and off for the past 5 years (with a 2 year gap almost pain free after epiduralysis treatment) and have been seeing the same orthopedic surgeon. About 6 months ago I felt a bulge on my right neck (just below the hairline) and after it was gone, I started having neck pain, followed by pin on my shoulder and between the shoulder blades. Now my lower back pain has also returned and I felt worse then ever.

During my last checkup, the doctor told me that if the pain persists, he may repeat the treatment I had 3 months ago i.e. radiofrequency, which relieved the pain, but only for a while. I've tried almost everything short of chiropratic and surgery, and I really don't know what to do now. Should I go see a chiropractic practitioner, get a second opinion from another ortho surgeon, or ask my current one to refer me to a neurosurgeon?

Do you find this discussion helpful?

Hi seed181,

I just found this sight and read your posting. I hope you have gotten it resolved by now. Stay away from a Chiropratic practitioner and get a second opinion. I would Google neurosurgeons in your area and read comments about them from patients. I feel your pain!! -)

Have you resolved your pain yet? I would stay away from neurosurgeons. Surgery is an absolute last resort and can cause bigger problems and more pain.
