Many Herniated Discs
So my boyfriend and I got into a car accident a little while ago, and to make a long story short he got 4 MRIs showing 20 herniated discs. I have never heard of anything like this, nor can I find anything about this many disc herniations. He is in severe pain everyday. Physical therapy isn't working and his pain meds are not really working anymore, in fact the pain is getting worse. He is only 25 years old. Would surgery even be able to fix that? Doctors also seem baffled on what to do. Has anyone ever heard of this many herniated discs? If so, what did that person do? Thanks so much!
These are the MRI reports, keep in mind that he is only 25 years old:
C2/3 through C5/6 disc hydration loss seen.
C3/4 posterior subligamentous disc bulge. Left sided uncinate productive change is also noted at this level.
C4/5 diminished disc space height with posterior disc bulge impressing ventral CSF
C5/6 posterior disc herniation impressing ventral CSF
T1/2 right sided posterior peripheral disc bulge is seen.
T2/3 right paracentral disc herniation is seen impressing the ventral thecal sac
T3/4 and T4/5 peripheral left sided posterior disc bulges are noted.
T5/6 left paracentral and preforaminal shallow disc protrusion gently indents anterior thecal sac.
T7/8 focal central and slightly left to center shallow disc protrusion gently indents anterior thecal sac.
T8/9 focal right paracentral disc protrusion gently indents anterior thecal sac.
T9/10 focal right paracentral disc protrusion gently indents anterior thecal sac.
L4/5 broad-based posterior disc herniation with ventral thecal sac deformity
L5/S1 small posterior disc herniation indenting the thecal sac
*Straigtening of the lumbar lordosis is noted, suggesting reflex muscle spasm.
Trace amount of right and left hip joint fluid
