Started by moffett71 on 07/18/2010 5:18pm

My wife and I had a bad wreck and she had a burst fracture of T7 very unstable but thankfully no cord damage, she had surgery 4 weeks ago and we are just wondering what can we expect as far as recovery time and anything about the pain. she has good days and bad days are those typical?
thank you

Outcome and recovery time are multifactorial.
Smoking and obesity will significantly increase the time it takes for boney fusion to occur post-op.
This usually takes at least 8 weeks, and can be up to 6 months.
Pain should settle with fusion.
Bone grows best in responce to mild, cyclical stress by vitue of a thing called Wolfe's law.
Decrease your time to fusion with excersise, but no rugby, trampolene or skydyving!!!
good luck.
