Patients dismissed by their Dr’s, others having this problem?

Started by Complex Regiona... on 05/25/2010 5:13am

I’m a pain patient. I have R.S.D. and DDD and COPD.
I also have a friend who is a pain patient. This woman was just sent a certified letter informing her Dr would no longer be taking patients on Medicare. This is due to the new OBAMA Health care.
The woman is very ill and is under a pain management contract.
The next thing she was refered to another Dr who cut her meds by 1/2.
Then once again she recieved a letter from that Dr she was dismissed because he also decided to stop taking medicare.
Now she if frantic.
I have seen on T.V. as it has played out Dr’s speaking of giving up their line of work. Now I have read about another pain person who decided to change Dr’s because of the long drive, was not allowed to transfer—or was rejected from the new place and then the place he was moving from that Dr would not allow him to come back.
This has concerned me as well as several others I know who are on medicare.
I decided to write and ask is or if anyone else has ran into this problem?
Where I live our Dr’s accept medicare on assignment. This means they accept what it will pay—which by the way is currently 80%. Under the new OBama ordeal they will drop down to 50% paid.
How many of you out their would be willing to have a drop in your pay down to 1/2 of what you normally charge or are paid an hour? Many Dr’s getting out of school have high loans to repay, high malpractice to pay, and this doesnt even mention the over head to run a business. So, does anyone have anything to add?
Has anyone else lost their Dr? Now I hear of the second person. Please if you read this and know anyone this happened to as I have seen—write so we can all know what may be silently going on.......Good luck and thanks for reading this.

I've been meaning to read the reform crap, but I don't wanna go comatose doing it, guess I'm gonna have to risk it and read the whole damn thing. It sounds like we need to band together and get our congress and senate involved and if they won't do it, it's time for a overhaul in politics. I knew nothing good would come out of his crap, now we are starting to see it....great...just what we all need. If I was a doctor I wouldn't lower my rates either because of the schooling and continuation of schooling they have to do. It's great that they have to keep up with new things, but give them a break, pay them what they are worth. Next thing you know they are gonna have surveys out in front of every doctors office wanting your opinion on how the office, staff and physician treated you. And then they are gonna dock the doctor more and more for treating chronic patients. And even more if you aren't happy with just one thing in the office. This country needs to get back to it's grass-roots in more than one way.

Thanks for the info Complex! Now we just need to stand up and do something about it. I'm gonna go read up on this reform...if you don't hear from me by tomorrow, I'm in a coma from either boredom or complete rage! Probably the former. This is a good time for everyone to go look at all the new candidates in your area, get registered to vote, ask questions and get active. We just had a great sermon in church on Sunday and he called it "Stand up for God America". It's time to stand up alright....before the rest of us get shot down because we are too old, or too much of a burden on society!

I have been dismissed by every doctor in my area. Although I haven't been able to work for 5 years, I can't get SSD, but I can sympathize with you.

Out of desperation I searched for a doctor out of my area. I now travel to a different state every 3 months, but he is the best doctor of any kind I've ever seen. Although I'm still on pain management, my overall health is much much better. I was about dead when I found him.

I guess what I'm saying is, "Don't give up!" Find a doctor wherever you can that you trust. I pay cash so I also get a discount.

As far as that schmuck Obama goes, we can get rid of him in 2 years, thank God. We also need to vote out ANYONE who voted yes on that plan.

luckily, i have insurance thru hubby's work & dont have to worry about that right now. i have to only worry about my copays (having the money to pay them at dr and pharmacy). i live in georgia, and our insurance commissioner, john oxendine, has really fought congress & obamacare the whole way, and still fighting them! he had a petition with hundreds of thousands of signatures he took to washington before the reform passed fighting it. since then, when they told him to start the process of the reform bill in georgia, he outright refused to start it. each state govt has to fund the darn thing, and he told congress, " you wanted it, you passed it, YOU FUND IT,! georgia is not funding it".. and he still is not processing the reform bill. this insurance commissioner is running for our governor this year, and we will be voting for him ! bad thing is, if he wins, lord knows what the new ins commissioner will do !
but i have already said, if i can get my ssdi, they can keep the medicare/caid, & i will keep my current insurance !

I believe in the New World Order conspiracy and as such, know this new health reform bill is just a way to eradicate the disabled, choronically sick, and elderly populations. Were're headin for some evil stuff that will greatly reduce the world's population...and it will be deliberetely done by our OWN ppl!!!!

I share in the pain with all. So here's mine.I've been in and out of pain for the past year due to a on job injury. After 3 nerve blocks and facet injections I'm still in pain occasionally, good days bad days seems to triggers upon weight bearing and/or short walks.Resulting in back, right buttock, back of thigh around knee pain some numbness in right foot. The total effect shuts me down completely I immediately attempt to sit then go horizontal for some relief. The pain meds Norco,Robaxin, and Relafen only gives minor relief My OD wanted to do a double fusion f4-f5,f5-s1 to begin with Upon my last office visit He released me He ask if I was in severe pain and I told him "no not at the present time" He then added to my med record that surgery at present time is not needed. He previously had a FCE performed. The FCE findings has restricted my work performance below my work requirements thereby not qualifying me to return to work. The day of my FCE my heart rate was up due to the pain and pain meds.It took 3 hours to do a 1 hour exam! Any way now major depression. And when I do have the surgery I still will not be able to do my job as an electrician, the only job I have ever done I am now 61 year old. I go for a ssi mediation hearing next month, my first one.Any suggestions?Do I walk in on my crutches? This laying around is killing me but it seems to be helping my back for now.I had looked forward to retiring after 65 or so and being active now it looks like i will not be able too. Thanks ec

Im in no way educated in politics in fact I dropped out of schoolin 9th grade because I was road of adhd and my step father didnt believe in thatIgot good old fashion beatings which started me down a long road of doctors they all love you untill your insurance runs out and beleive me I know!I ve dealt with mor drs.in the last 20 years. At 19 my dr. said You are a woman your whole spine is done imfiling for disability for you he did.he passed away before the process was done. I worked 1 job after another to pay for ins. just to control pain so i could work.Im not sure what the obama law says but after applying for a heath card in the welfare office and being turned downwhen I heard the Iranian womens translater behind our cubical translate that she would recieve like 1100 in cash benefits i cant remember the exact$ amount in stamps and a health card for her children whom i never heard english come! a year or so later I just couldnt stand the pain so Iapplied to ssi I could not beleive it when Iwalkedin it was the welfare office all over.I think Obahma was trying to cover us when he wrote that law but I dont think he took into considerationthat the drs.have to accept so many medicare and lets face it their overwhelming our programs
