Spina bifida

Started by Alexandram on 05/09/2010 3:53am

Someone please help. I was born with spina bifida --not occulta. I had surgery 2 days afterimage was born no major problems until just recently. I am having numbness not just tingling sensation that is quickly moving up my arms. Also sporadic numbness In face and upper body. Numbness has spread to almost shoulder area. Also having fainting/dizzy spells and headaches. I am afraid might be hydrocephalus. Someone please advise.

I was also worn with spina bifida, which was "repaired" at age 6wks. You should see a neurologist ASAP. The symptoms you have described could be from a tethered cord. I learned that a tethered cord is pretty common in spina bifida patients. As spina bifida patients, our spinal cord anatomy isn't normal. These differences can cause us major problems as we grow. But a neurologist will be able to perform tests that should sho what is going on. Good Luck!!
